Five Reasons Why Having Twins Is The Best Thing Ever

I’m sure other twin mums will be able to relate to the feeling that people seem to feel sorry for you when they find out that you have twins. People tend to focus on how hard having twins must be. Don’t get me wrong, some days, that’s all I can focus on, too. Having twins isn’t easy (is any number of kids easy?!). Some days, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But here’s five reasons why having twins is the best thing ever!

 

1. You only have to go through pregnancy once.

This is a big one, which is why it’s the first in the list. Morning sickness? Once. Heartburn? Once. All the aches and pains associated with pregnancy? Once. Losing the weight afterwards? Once. Granted, twin pregnancies are higher risk than singleton pregnancies and my own pregnancy wasn’t exactly the most fun time I’ve ever had, but…. I only had to do it once.

2. You only have to do everything else once, too!

After you’ve had your two babies for the price of one pregnancy, all the messy, tricky, hair-pulling phases are done in one go, too! Teething, weaning, potty training – sure, all kids are different, blah blah blah, but generally speaking, Jack and Alice go through the various phases at the same time and once they’re done… I never have to do them again.

3. Twins will always have a friend.

There is nothing cuter than the bond between twins. Seriously. Watching Jack and Alice laugh and play together makes my heart so happy, I could sing! And, while they’re playing together, I occasionally get to go to the toilet on my own, without anyone screaming my name from the bottom of the stairs, which I’m told by some of my singleton mum friends is a bit of a rare luxury when you have a toddler. This doesn’t happen all the time, but occasionally, Jack and Alice entertain each other enough that I’m surplus to requirements for a full 5 minutes.

4. Twice the love!

I have two beautiful, affectionate toddlers who are always happy to see me. Two amazing children who are always full of smiles. Two children filling my house with laughter. You get the idea!

5. The photo (and costume) opportunities are endless!

I’m a firm believer that the best reason to have children is the cute photos you can take of them (OK, one of the best reasons). With twins, the photos are even cuter!

First birthday
