About Me

Have you ever felt like the internet is full of parenting blogs that you can’t quite relate to? I did. Still do, really, and I figure I can’t be the only one. So I decided to start blogging myself.

If you’re a twin mum, or a mum that struggles with her weight and/or her mental health, or just a mum who prefers it when people are honest about how challenging being a parent can be, this blog is for you. If you’re none of those things, but enjoy laughing at the misery of others (me) this blog might still be for you and I hope you like it. Please feel free to get in touch and let me know!

This is me

I’m Becca (in case you hadn’t guessed). I’m married to a lovely man (we’ll call him Mr Becca, because I’m sure he’d love that and I’m hoping it’ll catch on) and we have two year old twins – Jack and Alice – who are wonderful and terrible and a million other things all at the same time.

I’m not “just” a twin mum, I’m also an IVF mum, a mum who suffers with anxiety and depression and a woman who struggles with her self-esteem and body image. You’ll find posts about all of those things (and more) in my blog, so please check it out!

I spent almost 10 years working in an office, responding to customer complaints, which was about as much fun as it sounds. In 2012, I decided to do something completely different and became a Student Midwife, which was definitely more rewarding (and also a million times harder) than my old office job. Unfortunately, we found out about our fertility troubles (you can read more about those here) in 2013 and delivering babies after that was just too difficult.

I went back to what I knew – Customer Services – while we waited for fertility treatment, but I couldn’t go back to work after we had the twins, due to the cost of childcare. So I trained as a Nail Tech and started looking at ways that I could work from home. That’s when the idea of starting a blog first burrowed its way into my head. I’d previously written about my IVF and pregnancy journey in a free WordPress blog, but I didn’t make it public and hadn’t written anything since shortly after the twins were born.

I thought about blogging a lot during the first two years after having Jack and Alice, but I wasn’t convinced I had anything to say that anyone would want to read! After talking to some other bloggers during the first half of 2018, I decided to just jump in and give it a go! I’m so glad I did, because I love it and it’s growing faster than I ever imagined it would!

So now I’m a stay at home, self-employed mum, working hard to hopefully avoid ever having to work in an office ever again!
