Although you might assume that wintertime is when pipes get frozen and burst and because everyone is indoors and using the plumbing more, things can go wrong (and this is true to some extent), the summer is the time to keep an eye on your pipes and the water in your home because there are many problems that you can face which, if not dealt with quickly, can be disruptive, messy, and expensive. Clogged Disposal
Barbecues and cookouts are hugely popular when the sun is shining; it’s wonderful to get friends and family together to enjoy good food and good weather. However, when you’re eating more (which is always the case when you have guests over – many people find it’s best to have too much food rather than too little), there is sure to be more waste. If you put that waste in your disposal, the chances are that something will go wrong because it’s working overtime, and it will eventually get clogged up.
Bones, grease, and fruit pits are the biggest issues for waste disposal units, but too much of anything will cause a problem eventually. To combat this problem, make sure that you use the disposal as sparingly as possible, and always ensure that you only put food down it that should go down it. Also, try making less food – you can always cook more, but you won’t be wasting so much. If you still find your drains are becoming clogged, don’t hesitate to call a Plumber. Sprinkler Issues
You’re sure to have to do more yard work in the summer. This is because not only will the sun make things grow more quickly, and therefore you’ll need to tidy it up faster as it gets messier, but also because you and your friends and family will be outside more, and you’ll therefore want the backyard to be a comfortable, pleasant place to be.
The sprinkler system will have to be used to ensure this is the case. For lush green lawns and bright, beautiful flowers, you need water as well as the sun. So your sprinkler will be on a lot more than in the winter, but there will also be more people running around outside, and this could lead to damage. Ensure that the sprinkler is only used when it really needs to be (having it on a timer to use overnight can be ideal), and keep the pipes and hoses away from high traffic areas. In the winter, you’ll bundle up warmly in a sweatshirt and pants that you can wear for two or three days at a time – you’ll only need to wash your underwear. In the summer, it’s a different matter. Because it’s hot, you’ll sweat more, so your clothes will have to be washed every day, and you might even change two or three times during the day to keep comfortable. So the washing machine needs to be used a lot more during the summer than in the winter.
Over time, the parts within a washing machine can start to fail, and it will flood or break down.
