Reinvesting In Our Health This Summer

This decade wasn’t the best start for most of us, for obvious reasons. As such, this affected our health in many ways, not only from being exposed to a virus but also through the lockdowns that took a toll on our physical and mental wellbeing. Reinvesting in our health over the summer, then, is as important as it ever was, and perhaps this year can start as a brand new refreshment regarding our usual fitness approach.

But reinvesting in your health doesn’t necessarily mean solely getting on the treadmill or lifting weights. Perhaps we could have more fun with it this year, falling back into getting activity and protecting ourselves as appropriate. That sounds like a worthwhile approach to take, something that can help us enjoy the summer thoroughly instead of falling into a sense of hardcore obligation.

With that in mind, let’s consider some tips to help you get the best out of the summer without feeling utterly tired or burned out before you even get to have fun. Our health tips will balance both as necessary:

Carry Covid-Protections

It’s healthy to carry a few covid-protections around with us should we need them. For instance, hand sanitiser in our bag, along with a few masks, can keep up protected if we need to move into more densely populated environments. Covid is on the rise again, slowly, and so it’s important that none of us become complacent. At the very least, you’ll have the tools you need to stay safer than you may otherwise, alongside following any advice that comes.

Reaffirming A Stretching Schedule

It’s very easy to feel tight and somewhat limited in our movements if we don’t spend time working them out, and as the months pass, this can lead to knots and strains in our muscles and joints. It’s good, then, to keep up with a stretching schedule, or to reaffirm our investment in following it. From using isometric stretches to help us build stretch, to dynamic stretches before exercising again, a little more flexibility and strength (especially core strength) can help undo the damage of sitting and help us feel so much more better in ourselves, the positive comparisons are near endless.

Visit a Professional

If you find yourself struggling with any pain, whether that be physical or mental, your first port of call should to get in contact with a professional specialising in treatment in that area. Suffering from anxiety? Speak to your GP or a counsellor. Muscle pain after a visit to the gym or an accident? Visit to a chiropractor or a massage therapist focusing on sports injuries. Chronic migraines? Schedule an appointment with your local ENT so they can discover the root cause of the problem and suggest treatment, including any cosmetic and functional ENT surgeries, that may offer you some relief. After all, the first step of self-care and reinvesting in our health is ensuring that we feel good on both outside and in.

Morning Meditations

Morning meditations can help us reinvigorate our minds, which can sometimes be a little foggy due to how we might have slept. Meditations of this nature can set us up for the day. There’s nothing quite like greeting a day knowing that you’ve done what you can to work on yourself, to train your focus and concentration, and to try and focus on a hobby that requires discipline. Over time, this can build, and as you become more and more capable of practising a technique like Vipassana, you feel much more relaxed in yourself and who you wish to be. Over time, that can offer a tremendously positive result.

With this advice, you’re sure to reinvest in your health this summer – we believe in one of the healthiest possible ways. Just make sure to take it slowly, and make incremental progress where you can.
