Lockdown is coming to an end, and with it, your ability to get away may be increasing. It depends where you currently live regarding if you can leave or not, and of course this boils down to your personal circumstance. If you’re in quarantine, or have family who are ill this won’t happen. If you’re in a country that allows travel, you may be looking for a deal as lockdown ends. There are hundreds of great places to go, whether a scenic tour or something with drinking and partying. You may need to narrow down your list and focus on smaller places or places which are closer. Here are some great ideas for you to consider. You might have already ticked them off your list, but they can give you further ideas and change your perspective going forward.
Holland
Holland is a beautiful country at any time of the year and it’s widely accessible. A lot of people tend to focus on Amsterdam, which is beautiful architecturally with dozens of wonderful museums and places of cultural importance. You can find some great cycling holidays in Holland, but the key thing to remember is that it’s a lot bigger than Amsterdam alone. The flats are incredibly beautiful if you can get out into the wider spaces. Do your research before going and you’ll be in for a treat. Holland hasn’t been hit as hard with Covid-19 as other countries too, so you might be able to get out there sooner rather than later.
Rome
Italy was hit incredibly hard by the Covid epidemic. However, they rely on their tourism and tend to make a lot of money off those who visit the eternal city. You might not be able to get there yet, but when you do you might be able to do it with a bit of a discount. The colosseum is always a wonder to behold, as is the Forum and Pantheon. Rome is a food lover’s dream too, with a huge amount of restaurants and eateries which suit all tastes. Good thing about Rome is that it’s also surrounded by other beautiful cities like Florence or Venice. A simple train ride away. You could experience a few cultural centres rather than just the one.
Greece
You might get an absolute steal if you go to Greece. The countries positively rely on all kinds of tourism, so the government is putting various initiatives in place to entice people to their storied islands. If you can get one of these grants you’ll be able to go at a significantly discounted price. The islands are full of culture, depending on where you want to go. If you want to go to a party, to a place like Malia, or Zante, you may want to manage expectations because social distancing regulations in place may put the breaks on any kind of nightclubs or parties. It won’t be the same. As long as you bear this in mind when you’re booking you’ll be able to go and have a great time.
