3 Ways To Use Your Patio

A patio is a wonderful thing; if you have an outside space to enjoy, ensuring that at least some of it is dedicated to the humble patio is one of the best things you can do. Why? Because the patio isn’t so humble after all, and it can be something you can use to great effect in a variety of different ways, ensuring that, even if you have to be at home, you can enjoy the great outdoors. Read on to find some inspirational ways to use your patio better.

An Exercise Space

We’re all meant to exercise for at least 30 minutes every other day, but many of us don’t quite manage that. Getting to the gym is difficult when there are other responsibilities to deal with (the same is true for any exercise that requires you to leave the house), but having gym equipment in your living room or, worse, your bedroom, or squeezed into a hallway somewhere isn’t much good either; you need some space for exercising, and you might want to be somewhere on your own too. So what can be done?

The answer is that you can use your patio. You may need to install a Vergolas roof to keep everything protected, but this will help immensely and is a wise choice, especially if you are spending a fair amount on exercise equipment. You might choose a treadmill, exercise bike, perhaps some weights too, or you might just want to use your patio as the ideal spot to place your yoga mat. Whatever you want to do, you’ll have the room and privacy to do it.

Chilling Out

We all need to slow down and chill out from time to time. If we don’t, we’re apt to burn out which isn’t just inconvenient and won’t just make you feel bad; it’s potentially dangerous and certainly life-changing. The problem is that, although we know we need to find the time to relax, if there is nowhere comfortable to do it, nowhere where we can be alone, then it becomes a chore more than something to enjoy.

By making your patio into a gorgeous space, perhaps with the addition of a pavilion complete with comfortable chairs and a fire pit or outside heater, you can use the area at night as well. You may just have created yourself the perfect chillout zone to escape the stresses of everyday life. Make it a rule that no screens are allowed so that you can truly relax.

A Playroom

When there are children to consider, ensuring they get enough fresh air can be hard – exercising for yourself is difficult enough, let alone trying to have the rest of the family involved too. Getting them into the garden might be tricky as well, especially if they are used to being on the computer or tablet (particularly when you factor in remote schooling).

The patio will come to the rescue. Buy a sturdy outside storage box and use it to keep toys and games that are only to be used outside in – Twister, chess, snakes and ladders, and so on can be ideal examples. On the patio itself, you can set up a mud kitchen or a drawing area (outside chalk will easily wipe away), or anything else that the kids will love. They can play with these things as much as they like and not make a mess inside, getting fresh air at the same time.
