Sleep deprivation is quite possibly one of the worst things that you could ever deal with in life. Even more than childbirth. Even more than being fired from your favourite job. Sleep is a must in life, as we need it to recharge and find the energy to keep going day to day. Without the correct amount of sleep, we cannot function properly and good sleep allows our body to rest and recover, to feel better after the stressors of the day.
The problem? We just don’t get enough of it! We can buy a new bed and all of the new pillows, but if we’re not dealing with why we can’t sleep in the first place, it’s futile. Whether we have babies screaming the house down and we can’t sleep, or we’re panicking over stressful stuff day to day, sleep is a precious commodity and it’s not easy to come by. With the best night of sleep, you can get through the day and feel energised right until the end of it. You need good sleep, and we have six reasons you need to get some now.
- Weight Gain. Did you know that poor sleep is a contributor to weight gain? Most people are unaware of it, but those who cannot sleep tend to find that their weight is higher than those who are sleeping really well! When you don’t sleep, you turn to sugary and highly palatable food to see you through the day. Getting a better night of sleep is a must for you, so don’t skip out on it.
- Headaches. Sleep deprivation can cause terrible headaches as our brains try to deal with being unable to function properly. You won’t be able to function much as all your mind will be doing is telling you to sleep!
- Poor Concentration. Without a good night of sleep, you will find that your concentration lapses and you are far less productive in your day to day life. You need to know that sleep plays a huge role in your ability to perform better and move more, and you cannot think as sharply if you haven’t slept properly! Good sleep improves your memory and allows you to perform better.
- Depression. With a bad night of sleep, you’re going to find it far harder to feel happy. It sounds depressing because it is! You want to know that you have slept comfortably and slept well, and you won’t have slept well at all if you are dealing with an uncomfortable bed or not enough time to sleep.
- Health Risks. Without good sleep, you risk heart disease and strokes, high blood pressure and more. You need to know that your body is fuelled correctly and sleep is going to fill that fuel meter properly for you!
- It Feels Good. It feels good to sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed and filled with beans. No one wants to wake up sore and desperate for more sleep, so get your head down and sleep well!

The person who wrote the blog did a great job of making it informative, easy to read, and simple to understand. It was a useful blog that made me think more about my sleep problem. In the future, I’ll look into some of the things that were talked about in the blog.
