Being a parent is probably one of the toughest things that anybody could be. Are you in charge of raising tiny people and hoping they become decently unhappy human beings, but you’re in charge of ensuring that they are culturally, physically and mentally healthy. One of the nicest things that you could all do together as a family is to go on holiday.
Taking a break and going overseas, or even doing a staycation somewhere local to you in a caravan park is a nice way to spend time together as a family and really bond. If you’ve ever considered taking the kids overseas, it’s likely that you scoffed at the idea because being locked in a plane for a few hours with children never sounds like a nice respect.
The thing is, it doesn’t have to be a difficult thing to do. Most parents get put off with stories of screaming children on planes, but let’s be honest, if screaming children was really the problem you wouldn’t go anywhere! Children are going to scream no matter where you are, and the key is in ensuring that you understand how to manage their emotions while trying to travel at the same time. Nobody should be held back from seeing the world, including children. - You are going to teach your children the beauty of flexibility. Normally, people tend to run their households with children with rigidity. They have their routines in place, they have timings for pretty much everything, and they stick to those timetables which makes children feel reassured and safe. Holidays are not about being rigid, which means children will get to learn what it’s like to be flexible. They’ll get to see what it’s like to stay up a little bit later, and enjoy the world as it was always meant to be.
- You’re going to make brand new memories. There’s nothing quite like seeing the look on your children’s faces when they go on an airplane for the first time. Being able to look out of the window and see the world from the sky? It’s an experience like no other. A trip overseas gives him the chance to do that, and it also gives you the chance to be able to see what your children can handle. You might find that all of the time that you are worried about your kids and whether or not they could cope was completely unfounded.
- Children get to experience foreign cuisine. Even somewhere as far flung as America can be a foreign cuisine for children who simply like good old British food. If you want your children to have new experiences, food is going to be part of the equation. It may take some time to convince your children that foreign food is just as nice as the food that they have at home, but it’s an amazing way to teach them to be more adventurous. Some children are picky eaters, and it’s these children that need that encouragement. There’s every chance that your children might just like the idea of trying chopsticks for the first time, or indulging in Japanese food.
- They will get to experience meeting their favourite characters. If you do choose to go ahead and book that trip to Orlando, your children are going to get to meet their most favourite characters that they get to watch on TV. All of the Disney characters are going to come to life for them, and they’re going to be able to experience them in all their glory. These photo OPS and experiences are often not repeated due to the cost of a holiday like that, but going to Orlando is going to be one thing that you can remember as a family forever.
- Flying is so much easier than it used to be. Flying with children used to be something that people would read, but with the advent of digital devices and the way that airlines now run, you will find that most children are happy to be supported by the Air Hostess and the airlines. You’ll also find that some children who want to go and visit the pilot in their seat will be allowed to do that, offering them an experience like nothing else.
