Even if it is new, it can still fail because of the extra stresses the cold can place on it. And nobody wants to spend Christmas in a cold home. But if you allow yourself a little too much fun, you are guaranteed to have a miserable time. Alcohol and drugs can zap your energy and prevent you from feeling good about what should be a great family day. If you can’t trust yourself, then don’t drink at all, or you might regret it on the day.
