Having a home that’s worth more at any given point than when you bought it is a great thing. If you intend to sell, it means you’ll make a profit and be able to put your home on the market and find a new one without any issues – the mortgage will get paid off and you’ll have money left over to use as a deposit. If you’re not selling, it’s still a good thing; if you need to remortgage, you can get some extra cash at the same time, or you can just continue to live in your home, knowing it’s growing in value and enjoying the fact that you’ve made a great investment.
It makes sense, however, to do what you can to boost your home’s value, no matter what your future plans might be. It’s true that in some cases (many cases), your home will rise in value even if you don’t do anything, but imagine how much more it could be worth if you did some renovations. With that in mind, here are some ideas to try out that will boost your home’s value.

Add An Extension
Making your home bigger is always a good idea – after all, if your home is larger, it’s almost one hundred percent going to be worth more, whether you add another bedroom, expand the kitchen, or build a home office, for example. Of course, an extension is going to cost you money, so it’s wise to speak to an expert estate agent to get an idea of how much the extra space could boost your home’s value to see if it’s a worthwhile investment.
There are ways to make the extension less expensive too, so if it’s your budget that’s an issue, don’t worry – it might still be something you can do. A modular extension should be the ideal solution, giving you the space you need in a budget-friendly way, so if making your home bigger seems like a good idea, it’s wise to take all your options into account.
Change The Kitchen
Of all the rooms in your home, it’s the kitchen that people are going to be most interested in when they’re viewing a property. Your kitchen is essentially the heart of the home, where people gather to chat, make food, and perhaps eat (depending on how big the space is), so getting it right is crucial.
If your kitchen is old and outdated, it’s well worth ripping the whole thing out and starting again with a new design. A fresh, modern kitchen with the right (ideally energy efficient) appliances is something and potential buyer will be happy to see because not only will they be able to use it, but they won’t have to spend money putting in their own kitchen, so they’re likely to be happy to spend a little more on the property becuse of that.
Go Green
The environment is a hot topic for many people, and a lot of potential homeowners want to make sure they’re not contributing to the problem of global warming and pollution; they’ll specifically be looking for a green, energy efficient property to buy.
If that’s the case, it makes sense to ensure your property is green – you’ll attract a lot more buyers but you’ll also be doing your bit for the planet, so it’s a win-win. Invest in solar panels, better insulation, a good central heating system, energy efficient appliances (assuming you’re leaving them behind when you move), and perhaps even install a rainwater collection system. All of this will entice eco-friendly buyers who’ll be happy to pay more for your home, knowing it’s good for the planet.
