Unique Ways to be Money Savvy

Whether you are a pro at managing your finances or could use a little extra help, there is always room for improvement. Saving for a big life event, milestone, or the trip of a lifetime might mean becoming lean in other areas of your life. Or, perhaps you have decided you want to be more careful with spending due to the rising cost of living. Whatever your motivation happens to be, you can probably benefit from these unique ways to be more money savvy.

Sell Your Jewellery

One of the best ways to make a little extra money is by selling your unwanted things, specifically your gold jewellery. Some companies will buy and sell scrap gold jewellery and pay you for it. All you need to do is take a careful look through your jewellery box and find those old pieces that you no longer wear and are ready to part with. This strategy is a win because you can get rid of things you do not want and bring in extra income.

Use Every Bit Up

Have you ever finished a bottle of your favourite lotion only to toss it into the recycling bin without peeking to see what is on the inside? If you said yes, you are not alone. There is usually a good bit of product left inside of the bottles and tubes that appear to be empty. Next time, when you cannot seem to get anything else out of your beloved toiletries, first, tip them over and let gravity do its work. After exhausting that strategy, it is time to pick up a sharp pair of scissors and safely cut the tubes and containers in half. You will be amazed at what you will find clinging to the bottoms and sides of the containers. Often, you can get out an extra two or three days of product by doing this. Over time, you will save a bit of money here and there with this tactic.

Hold Off on That Purchase

Another great way to be money-savvy is fairly simple, but it hinges on your willpower and self-control. The basic premise is that you should wait to make a purchase. There are a lot of “experts” that range from true financial guides to TikTok-famous influencers who will encourage you to put an item into your online shopping cart – and then leave it there. You might get a purchasing high from that tiny action. Or the delay in time it takes you to come back to the shopping cart might create enough friction to reduce your chances of following through with it. Give yourself a guideline or rule of waiting one week for small purchases, and one month or more for larger expenditures, to avoid impulse spending. You just might come back to the items and realise that you never really wanted them, which equals money saved for you!

Being money-savvy takes effort, but it does not have to be difficult. All you need to do is pay attention to what you are doing and make choices that fit. Try selling your gold jewellery, using up your products, and spending your money wisely.
