5 Ways to Make Cleaning Easier at Home

We all want a tidy home, but do you feel like you spend half your life cleaning? Here are some of the ways you can save time without cutting corners.

Do a little each day

Instead of leaving the cleaning until the weekend, do just a little each day. You’ll find even a small amount helps you to keep on top of things so you’re not spending one or two full days each week getting through it. Each evening, go around and put away items that have been left out, put bleach in toilets, wipe down worktops and run the dishwasher. In the morning, empty the dishwasher and have a quick run around with the hoover a couple of times a week. Fifteen minutes each day is all you need to do, it will make your life so much easier.

However, if you do feel like you struggle to even commit that much time, or you are overrun by other, more important responsibilities – like your 9-5 or your children – there is no shame in reaching out to a cleaning company, or one of these maids in Nashville (or a similar individual more local to you), to take over the cleaning at home. Contracting with a cleaning company or maid can free up your time to do what you really love, whether that be relaxing with the kids, cooking, or reading a good book, and your home will be spick and span without you having to worry about it.

Replace carpets with hard floors

Carpets are soft and cosy underfoot, but aren’t great for busy households. If you have kids, pets or a lot of guests then eventually mud and dirt will be trampled through. Spills and accidents can lead to stains and smells and all in all carpets arent the most practical. Upgrade to hard floors, they’ll last forever and are easy to clean- a quick mop or a stone floor cleaning machine will have them looking fresh and new in a matter of minutes.

Keep clutter to a minimum

Cleaning is already irritating enough, but when you’re having to mess around dusting lots of fiddly items or navigate around piles of items it’s even more problematic. Keep your home decluttered, go with a minimal look and style it with a few key pieces rather than lots of fussy ornaments and decorative objects. When it comes to swiping around with the duster and using the vacuum it will be far quicker.

Find the right storage

One of the things that’s difficult about maintaining a tidy home when you have kids is that their stuff gets everywhere. Toys, books and other items get brought downstairs and can quickly make your tidy living room look messy. You don’t have to make the space a toy free zone (after all, home is for living in and enjoying) but make the tidying up more simple. Purchase some storage boxes, ottomans or other pieces of furniture that match your decor. You can throw their toys right into them at a moments notice, instantly improving the look of your home during the day or if guests pop over.

Get the family involved

Keeping the home clean is a big job and shouldn’t all be down to one person. Get the family involved and assign jobs to everyone- kids can do age appropriate chores and it will teach them responsibility too. From feeding pets and washing pet bowls to putting the dishwasher away to polishing and tidying, make sure each person is responsible for at least one thing.
