The climate crisis is something that affects every single person living on this planet today. It also affects those who are yet to be born. And, as the emergency becomes ever more pressing, we all must stand up and take responsibility for our own actions and do our own little bit to help the crisis from worsening and do everything that we can to try to improve matters.
Whether you think that it is the fault of governments, businesses or us, as individuals, there is no time to stand around and assign blame. For the future of our children, we must make changes to our lifestyles right now so that the world can be saved.
Here are some ways that you can really make a difference by doing small things in your own life.
Save Water
Two-thirds of the planet is water, but most of that is not fit for human consumption. The clean freshwater that we have is under pressure of becoming ever more scarce and scientists believe that in just five years or so around two billion people on the planet won’t have access to clean drinking water anymore.
It’s down to everyone on the planet to stop wasting water. Stop leaving your tap run, take showers instead of baths, and use water butts like the ones at Tanks Direct to save up your rainwater for use in the garden and for flushing your toilets.
Switch To A Green Energy Provider
If you are with a company that still uses fossil fuels to power your home, then you need to switch from their services to a green supplier. There is no need for us to produce power in a way that damages our environment, however, with many of the larger companies slow to switch their methods of production it is time to let them know that their services are no longer of use to this world.
Switching energy provider to a company that provides fully renewable energy can be very easy to do. Often, it actually works out cheaper and you may even find that you get a much better customer services experience with them anyway.
Reduce Reuse Recycle
Moving over to a zero-waste lifestyle can be hard, but it is not impossible. So much that we buy ends up in landfill and we need to do our best to ensure that we are doing our best to avoid buying items which have packaging that we will just need to throw away straight away.
Buy products based on their packaging. If it is recyclable, or even better does not come in packaging then this will mean less waste going straight into landfill.
When buying items think about how long they will last before you need to replace them. If you are buying items that you know you will end up throwing away after a short period of time, then you should think about getting something that is better quality and therefore more sustainable.
