Life can be demanding, and everyday living can really take its toll on us sometimes. Becoming overwhelmed by simple things that slowly pile up such as keeping your house clean, remembering to eat a vegetable, and working out occasionally can mean we become very anxious very quickly. That is especially when we’re going through a pandemic at the time.
We’re all just trying to do our best to have it all under control and be the best we can be, but there are certain things that should never be brushed under the carpet, such as our physical and mental health.
When the world around you makes it feel hard to smile, here are some things you can do to help you to manage and get you feeling your groove again.
Have Something Nice To Eat
Sometimes when you’re feeling anxious, the symptoms can be displayed in a physical way. You may feel extra nauseous so the last thing you may feel like doing if you’re feeling anxious is to eat a good meal. Paragraph however feeling your blood sugar level drop as a result of not eating can also increase levels of anxiety
Have something nice to eat that is healthy, filled with complex carbohydrates that won’t spike your blood sugar levels, good fats that keep you full, and proteins that will help to restore and repair the body. There is no problem with having something tasty to eat, either. Though make sure it’s not something you’re doing just to comfort eat. Watching what you eat could be one of the best forms of self-care out there.
Don’t Put (important) Things off
As we surf this neverending wave of adult responsibilities, we need to learn that putting things off doesn’t take away from the worry. In fact, the more things are put off, the more likely becoming anxious and overwhelmed will become an inevitability.
Putting things off will not only guarantee that you will become more anxious, but it can also affect your health negatively. Got a pain in your tooth but don’t want to undertake the treatment recommended by Wahroonga Dental? Don’t do that. Getting that treatment booked will mean that the issue causing you pain will be dealt with.
Getting the things done that cannot be avoided will be a huge relief and the feelings of anxiety will soon go.
Keep your mind busy
Anxiety can be cruel sometimes, especially when you’ve been putting things off. If, for example you are putting off taking a test, then waiting for the results of a test can increase your anxiety tenfold. However, nothing at all can be done to change what the answers to the test where. So thinking about all the things that could’ve gone wrong will only increase your anxiety further. Make sure you do things to keep your mind occupied. Talk to friends, binge watch a show, workout— whatever it is, make sure that they are healthy choices that will help keep worry at bay.
Everybody experiences anxiety in different ways. The best thing is to know that you are not alone and that there are people in your life who love and care about you.
