Crisp linen and cotton is great in summer. When colder weather hits however, you need to try and choose sheets and covers that will really hold the heat in. Flannel or even jersey is great here. Of course, it also helps to fold a quilt or throw a nice blanket over the foot of the bed. When you do this, you will make the room look way more comforting and you also have an additional layer if the temperature gets really chilly.
Slippers by the Door
Another thing that you can do is stash some slippers by the front door. This way, you can slip them on as soon as you step into your home and you can also feel instant comfort. One bonus of doing this is that you won’t have to worry about dragging mud or dirt into the home!
Furry pillows are fantastic for your home. You can add one or two textured pillows to the couch or you can even just replace the ones that you have already. This will help to add some soft furnishings to the home and it will also help your space to feel way more open and more welcoming. If you aren’t a fan of fluffy or furry pillows then try and opt for rich velvet or knitted cushion cases. This can make a huge difference to your home and it can really help you to stay under budget too! If you want to step things up to that next level, why not look into elegant chaise lounges and daybeds too?
Add a Little Warmth
Underfloor heating is ideal if you want to give your home that instant, cosy feel. It doesn’t cost a lot to install, but it does cost a lot to run. If you want to try and get around this then you need to turn it on when you are going to appreciate it the most. This would usually be first thing in the morning, and last thing at night. Sometimes you can set timers that will help you to control both your home’s temperature and underfloor heating, and this is a great option if you are energy conscious.
Invest in Some Soft Lighting
When the sun goes down, it’s really nice to have some soft lighting in your home. Try and opt for some LED lights or even some warm-tone lightbulbs. This will help you to get that nice comforting glow and when you’re snuggled up on the sofa at night, it can really help you to feel cosier and relaxed. Candles are another great option because they are affordable, and they also serve as a decorative element.
Making your home feel more welcoming and cosier has never been easier, and the above tips should be more than enough to get you started with your own home transformation!
