So this is my third Word of the Week (you can read last week’s post here). I’m very sorry if reading about my week is boring for some of you. But the fact that I’ve managed to publish 4 posts in 3 weeks (not including collaborative/sponsored posts) is a very big deal for me after neglecting my blog for over a year, so I’m going to keep doing Word of the Week, just to keep me writing. I have some plans for diet-related posts, which people seem to like, and some mental health posts, so hopefully you’ll stick with me while I get my blog back on track.
This week’s Word of the Week is Decisions
I feel like I’ve had a lot of decisions to make this week. My brain is aching, because I am the least decisive person in the world.
Decisions about redecorating
Obviously there’s been a lot of change in my life in the last year. Eventually, we’ll be selling this house, but in the meantime, I need to make some changes. It doesn’t feel right that I have changed so much and my life has changed so much, but the space I live in is still the same. I need a fresh start. Starting with my bedroom.
I’ve already made decisions about wallpaper and paint. I’ve chosen a new wardrobe. But I’m stuck deciding between two dressing tables. I’ve narrowed it down to the Malm from Ikea and this one from Amazon (not an affiliate link – I’ve been lazy with that too). At least, I think I’ve narrowed it down to those two… every time I look, I find others that I also like. If anyone has an opinion that might help me chose between the two, I’d love to hear it in the comments below!
Decisions about work
At the moment, I have several income streams. I’m self-employed and, as well as my blog, I do a few other online bits and I’m a Cambridge Weight Plan Consultant for The 1:1 Diet. When you’re self-employed, it makes sense to have more than one income stream. It’s always a bit risky relying on just one, in case work (and income) dries up.
But I’m not just self-employed. I also have two 4 year olds who are currently at home full time (with the exception of the one night a week they spend with their dad). They don’t really like me working all day, which is what I’m currently doing, trying to balance all the things I have to get done.
So I have to make some decisions. The twins will be going to school in September (I hope!) and I want to increase my income so that I can work towards coming off Universal Credit (it was only ever supposed to be a temporary solution for me while the twins were little and I couldn’t work as many hours as I’d like). But I also don’t want to work myself into the ground. It’s looking like my 1:1 Diet business will be the one that goes. The problem is I love my job and I’m having trouble pulling the trigger.
Decisions about my diet
As most of you know, I lost 4st with The 1:1 Diet last year. That’s part of the reason I’m so passionate about it. But what with the separation and everything that’s happened since, and then lockdown… I’ve gained a bit of weight back. So I’ve made the decision to go back on plan. I’ve also booked boudoir photoshoot for February 2021, to give me an extra incentive to lose weight. This decision was the hardest, because Muscles is a really great cook (is there nothing he can’t do?!) and he enjoys cooking for me… and I enjoy eating. But he’s also really healthy and super supportive of my diet and plans to increase my fitness. So I think I can have both, with a bit of planning and compromise.

This post has been added to Raisie Bay’s Word of the Week linky. If you want to see how other bloggers have summed up their week, you should check it out.

I never get bored of reading about people’s weeks, that why I was overjoyed to take over Word of the Week (yes, I started out as a linker on someone else’s blog.) You do have some important decisions to make though. As for the dressing table, I prefer the Amazon one. I don’t have a dressing table but I do need to sort out my bedroom. It’s not been decorated since we moved in nearly 7 years ago. #wotw
I’ve lived in this house for almost 5 years and my bedroom definitely needs a change now. I think I prefer the Amazon table too. I don’t really need a dressing table, because I don’t wear makeup, but I feel like grownups have dressing tables! x
Don’t panic, Emma is here to save the day! Well, for your dressing table anyway. If you’re going for a busier wallpaper, I’d say opt for the simpler Ikea option. It saves too much detail in the room. If the paper is simpler, then the amazon option might work better as it has two different textures to add to the room, between the white top and the wooden legs.
I’m completely on the same page when it comes to eating. Mike is a great cook too and I find myself eating far more than I need, just because the food is so tasty! Balance is everything, look after yourself but enjoy your food too! #wotw
I’m leaning towards the Amazon one, because it’s going to be against a plain wall. And building a human being means you’re allowed to eat extra! lol x
It sounds like you’ve had a lot of decisions to make.
Good luck with the decorating. I prefer the Amazon dressing table. I like the 3 drawers on it rather than 1.
It sounds like you are so busy with work and sending the kids to school sounds like the right thing to do. x
I love reading everyone’s word of the week posts and I’m glad that the linky is helping you get back into blogging. Good luck with all the decisions you’re making at the moment. Trying to juggle having to work from home with looking after children is so hard especially when you’re the sole breadwinner. Hope you find a way forward that is best for you right now. With regards to the dressing tables, they’re both nice but I think I prefer the Amazon one. #WotW
Thank you! I think I prefer the amazon dressing table too. I think that’s one decision that’s made, at least!
